Steamboat Race/Training camp 2020
The year of COVID, a whole new way of (Ski) life!

YES!  We did it.  After over 9 months of dealing with the challenges of COVID, many were longing for a chance to break free and have some fun.  It was a long shot with many obstacles, but through the combined efforts of many people, we were able to pull it off.

It was indeed  different.  Colorado is a very cautious state, and they are in "condition red".  All restaurants are closed except for carry out,  masks are required in all open spaces, and strict limits to gatherings of 10 persons max is enforced.

But we worked around it.  Every dues paying member present was given a brand new "AA Ski Club Face Mask".  We stayed in groups of 8 or less, and ate outside on the decks, and self policed ourselves to be extra cautious.  Once on the slopes it was a breath of fresh air...literally.  You could pull down your mask (to breathe of course), and while the snow was all man made from top to bottom, it was heaven.  Cruising along again with the fresh cold air in your face was invigorating.  We got excellent training with lots of gates and practice runs, and the Thursday race gave everyone a chance to once again taste the thrill of competition.  Below is a list of the results.  Congrats to all, I don't  think anyone was disappointed.   ED.
