Summer Greetings from TR.

Mid-Summers greetings my Fellow Snow Enthusiasts,

As Rick Schreiner has said: winter is only 4 months away, and now is the time to start preparing both mentally and physically.  This coming season should be a great one as we return to the Tahoe area of Heavenly Valley, and add Crested Butte, CO. Crested Butte is one of the last great ski towns, and has changed little in the last 30+ years as compared to other destination ski meccas. It is at high altitude with a base area 9400’, and the top 12,162 (4th highest in Colorado)! So now is the time for most of us Flatlanders to hit the gym, jump on the bike, and/or get some dryland training under our belts to prepare us to be able to enjoy “slipping the surly bounds of gravity” at high altitude this coming winter. Skiing is also a mental sport, and as such,we can certainly start “mind skiing” right now. There are some great articles at www.skiracing.com that evoke some great mental prep. Here is an interesting example: http://www.skiracing.com/premium/racernext-failure-is-the-new-success

Now is also the time for recruiting new blood for our club/team. Denise is making some new cards that we can present fellow employees at American with the dates and places of the coming events. Pass the word. Most employees that I talk to that enjoy skiing or riding express a wish that they “…always wanted to go” to one of the Airline Ski-weeks. Enjoy your summer and pray for snow.

Very Respectfully, Ted Rutherford
