Notes on the January 2008 Snowbird meet from the Historian:
For the Team:
It was a great season, We won Big. Was especially pleased that we won the Hindrum Cup, and hope we can retain it next year at the Bird.
Didn't do much skiing. Raced a total of two. Perhaps next year will do better.
The Bitch (ed: Tuck's RV) gave a good party and gave out a lot of of dogs. Thanks to everyone for the Kitty. The Bitch is pleased and will get a new coat. Have a great summer and keep in shape for next season. Will try to do the same.
LOVE YA ALL. "TUCK"
Recently at Steamboat's Tuesday Team Dinner, Tuck revealed how he was recruited to the team in the 1970's.
He displayed the November 1971 issue of SKI Magazine, which contained an article of hand drawn sketches describing an Airline week the previous year at Mt. Alyeska, Alaska.
Which you can find here:
The magazine also has an article by Billy Kidd on tuning the bases of your skis, which Tuck had signed by the author on Thursday evening. In addition there is a Q&A in which the pros and cons of using shoe polish on leather ski boots is discussed.
