Hello All,
Training camp at Steamboat was great. It is actually the ski event I look forward to the most each season. The snow was good and got better each day. The instruction was fantastic as always. We always get the best instructors and they are anxious to see us improve as skiers and as racers. I have to mention all the fun we had apres ski. What's better than a day on the snow and a great night with friends. If you haven't gone to camp I can't recommend it highly enough. Mark it on your calendars for next season.
I look forward to being the B Team captain this year and know it is just a question of putting enough AA B-Team skiers on the slopes for the points to start adding up. You don't have to be Bode Miller and if racing gates scares you a little, well, as they say "join the club"! You are not alone. It's amazing how competitive we all become when we think that surely I can knock a second or two off that last run time. Let me know as soon as you make that decision to come to a race so I can get the seeding done. It makes a difference. We want you there!
While at Steamboat in December I thought about how much everyone who comes to a ski meet has to deal with to get there. Trading trips, work shifts, using vacation and the like. It takes time and effort to put up with the non-rev ordeal. But in times like these, when I first stand at the top of the Heavenly Daze run and see the valley below, I know why we do this. It is truly worth the effort.
See you in January.
