Da Bird 02/20/2012
We had a great turnout at Snowbird, and while the conditions were not the best I’ve seen there, the areas where we raced were in great condition. Louise McKee, KJ, Raybo, Mike Williams, and Rachel all finished well. Of course, Bjorn was a one man team, finishing well in the GS, and making all but the last 4 gates in the second run of the SL. The rest of us struggled along, content to make points for the team as we were able. We missed our killer A women, Liz Jones, Danielle Honore, and Sarah Manning. (Sarah, where are you?) Our esteemed B team captain, despite her best efforts, graduated to the A’s, so get ready! Here comes Susan Noel! We had a little scare – on Wednesday morning, Jim Tullos, in flat light, got compressed by a bump he didn’t see, and wound up limping for the rest of the week, not competing in SL or GS. He DID, however, make one heck of a good race course announcer. Amber Bailey (of Sky West, I think) was in fine form, competing, and beating most of us in a skirt. We haven’t been to Sun Valley in a few years, so it will be great to visit there – They‘ll be happy to see us until we wear out our welcome again. Anyway, make your way up there for the showdown – it’s us vs. Delta/Northwest. Add Comment On your mark... Get set.... 01/03/2012
We had a great week in Steamboat, with lots of advice from our A coaches, Linas and Heather. It was great to see and ski with Amber Bailey Stockhausen and her husband John. I learned a lot just watching Amber and Linus skiing the practice courses. Maureen Matsumoto, Laura Jean and Danielle got skis at good prices thanks to connections with the Steamboat Winter Sports Club and Steamboat Ski and Bike. Snow was a little thin, but there was plenty enough where the practice courses were set. Looks like this year will be one were there isn't a lot of snow, but who cares.. Can't wait to get back in the saddle again.. First Post! 10/07/2011
