Well, this marks my last blog as your President. To say it was a challenging year would be an understatement, but through it all our Team performed with pride and integrity. We had some great times, and many wonderful memories were made. Thank you for your support over the last two years. I know you will give Rachel the same courtesy and we will all continue to make the American Airlines Ski and Snowboard Team a great organization. It has been my privilege to serve and I wish you all health, happiness, and success in the future. Take care, God bless, your fellow team mate, Rick.
Well, we all made it back from NIESKO, Japan (I think) after a week of incredible cultural exchanges, some very challenging race courses, and lots of fun with new friends. I'm proud to report that we finished in 7th place overall, which is amazing when you consider how good some of the European teams are. There are some great stories to tell, and I can't wait until Sun Valley to tell you a few. In the meantime they say one picture is worth a thousand words, so I will attempt to attach some of my favorite photos to give you a hint of what happened there. On a side note. I saw where someone nominated me for the Spirit of NAASF award. While I must say I really don't think I deserve this honor, as there are several others that have worked much harder than me for NAASF, I do want to say thanks for the consideration. It has always been my goal to try and do whatever it takes to help keep this team headed in the right direction, and enjoy all the main benefits it provides for all of us, namely a chance to share fun and good times with special friends while doing something we all like doing, ie. skiing and snowboarding. Let's all keep working together for this goal no matter who is president. Thanks for your support all year, Rick Even as we speak, er-ah type, um I mean blog, 24 brave souls from the AA Ski and Snowboard Team are on their way to NISEKO JAPAN. The logistics of this trip will be challenging as you might well expect, but it reminds me of a trip several of us Team Members took to Melbourne, Australia, (yep, the one "down under") for a ski week in July, 1981 I think it was. People looked at us carrying snow skis through the Honolulu airport and thought we were nuts! I'm not sure which of these trips will have the biggest language barriers, but we are heading to Sapporo where they had the Olympics a few years ago, and this years snow reports are "OVER 11 meters" of snow for the year so far. Even with my limited math skills I know that's over 33 feet of snow!! So far this year in the states we have been thrilled with 3 or 4 inches just to mix with the man made stuff. Well keep posted for updates and results, and we will see you all in SUN VALLEY in April. Take care, Rick | Rick SchreinerPresident ArchivesCategories |
